Ladies’ man Trey Songz made his way over to Power 105′s Breakfast Club to promote his newest single “Heart Attack” off of his forthcoming album ‘Chapter V’. The crooner talked about the meaning behind the song, as well as the current progress of the album.
Trey even touches on his other single “Sex Ain’t Better Than Love,” and its current success, as well as the debatable question of whether the statement is true depending on each person’s perspective. He even speaks on being a crossover artist, while maintaining what he is first & foremost — a R&B singer. Despite many singers jumping over to the dance/pop/electronic sound, Trey sees no need to go that route unless its organic, and even then, will make sure he sticks with his roots as a R&B artist.
As far as the album, he’s still continuously recording, with over 30 tracks under his belt. Since he’s set no release date, Trey will continue working on the album, since most of his hits happened to be one of the last couple of songs he recorded for the projects. He did, however, reveal a T.I. collaboration entitled “Two Reasons”.
Trey also touches on the Trayvon Martin tragedy, and his thoughts on the situation, as well as racism as a whole. I love what he had to say about taking a stand wholeheartedly, instead of half-assed.. It’s such a problem where everything becomes a “fad” and is considered the “popular” thing to do just because everyone else.
& In case any fans are wondering, his horror movie got pushed back until February of 2013. However, Trey does hope to continue working on his acting career and do some more films soon. And in the case of an artist biopic, Trey would only want to play Marvin Gaye.

While overseas in London, R&B songstress Syleena Johnson made sure to perform a tribute to the late Whitney Houston at her sold-out show at the Jazz Cafe, as she performed her soulful rendition of Houston’s classic “I Will Always Love You”. This one definitely hit home for me because Syleena did an excellent job, from pitch to notes, and all without overdoing the song. To this day, I still can’t understand how the Grammy-nominated singer is still so underrated..
If you haven’t yet, be sure to also check out her latest album ‘Chapter 5: Underrated’ which dropped late last year. And be sure to check out her spectacular cover below!

Adding to the list of music artists with their own line of alcohol, Ne-Yo is the latest to join in the ranks with his latest collaboration with Malibu to create Malibu Red. While at the launch of the new drink in NYC, the R&B singer/songwriter took stage to perform a bunch of his hits and to also debut the signature song for the drink, “Burnin’ Up”.
Since he couldn’t find the right song for the drink, he created his own, which as he described as “basically talking about how you take the smooth of the rum and the fire of the tequila and bring ‘em together to just create a whole ‘nother sexy thing.”
The singer also revealed that he’s already shot a video for this track in Miami with director Chris Robinson, and they are currently putting the finishing touches on it at the moment. Until then, what do you think of the song?
