Beyond the performances and awards, we saw some nice couples and duos on the red carpet, in the show and backstage at Sunday’s 2009 American Music Awards. Both Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton brought along their biggest supporters and Ne-Yo brought along a special guest.

Performances were really good this year. IS it me or is every female copying Lady Gaga??? J. LO was painful. Whitney Houston suprised the hell out of me (she’s still got it), and Jay Z and Alicia rocked.
Nobody’s copying Lady Gaga!…Other than her blond-hair do, she is by far MORE Grace Jones than she is Madonna and judging by last night’s choregraphy she has some Janet in her as well!…and we all know that Alicia Keys is the modern day-piano woman(Lady Gaga really wasn’t playing those keys last night)so Gaga really appears to be more influenced by African-American female singers more than anything else!..I really like Lady Gaga but we have seen female singers come before her who are just as exotic and fashionable like Erykah Badu, Jody Watley and the legendary Patti Labelle!
