Even when his team doesn’t make the NBA Playoffs, Dwyane Wade feels the heat. Just days after rumors emerged about an alleged romance between Wade and TV personality Star Jones, he appeared on TNT’s “Inside The NBA” with Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley to address the situation.
“Star is an unbelievable woman,” the 26-year-old NBA All-Star said of the 46-year-old TV personality who recently filed for divorce from husband Al Reynolds. “We have a great, great relationship. As friends. We’re friends, just like a lot of celebrities.”
“Are y’all close friends?…Are you the kind of friends that drink out of one cup with two straws?” Smith asked moments later, referring to a highly-scrutinized photo of Wade and the 46-year-old TV personality at a tennis match.
“We are friends. That’s all,” said Wade, who is married to his high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches. The couple has two sons.
“Good friends?” Barkley asked.
“Naw, Chuck,” said a smiling Wade, who has appeared in a number of T-Mobile commercials with Barkley.
“I like Star,” Barkley responded. “But she is a cougar. Preying on a young Dwyane Wade.”
