OUCH! Beyonce’s House of Dereon “Failed” With Women

House of Dereon

According to Newsweek (very good magazine), Beyonce’s House of Dereon line has “failed to catch fire” with women. Yet, other celebrity clothing lines by the Olsen twins, Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Lopez are still getting that money.

Despite millions of dollars worth of media exposure, including a debut on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Beyoncé’s House of Dereon line has failed to catch fire with consumers. No matter how famous the product’s provenance, if it fails to impress women on its own merits it begins to resemble a cynical exercise in self-promotional marketing.

I know that hurts.

Who the hell walks around in clothes like that in real life. the average person is not on stage every night. She even looks uncomfortable in that shit. Besides their jean line is not all that special she got a long way to go before she catches up to Baby Phat. That photo is depressing

It’s not that their not being promoted. I mean I’ve seen their clothes and some of them are very gorgeous. It’s that, when you think about it, the majority of people in the world are middle class or lower. So I think they need to lower their prices.

Well, I love beyonce(big fan, Beyonce Queen LoL), but in all honest one of the down falls is that she really desn’t have clothes from full figured woman, plus her clothes are too expensive. Maybe in the near furture(this year 2008) B will lower her clothes so that I and others cn buy her clothes, espeacailly for chirstmas.

I love Beyonce, she’s a legend, but Im not lovin Hous of Dereon. I know it probably didnt fail for lack of advertising cos I see it everywhere…. I dont even think that its just about the price, its more a matter of taste. Personaly I dont like any of the clothes they make, they’re too much information, they’re not ‘wearable’.

The line needed to be revamped somewhat because some of the clothes were hit or miss. But they definitely did have some very beautifl things that I did see. I just don’t think that they got the distribution they needed. Also, the prices needed to be lower. If they could do those two things, then I think the line could do exceptionally well. I loved the dresses that were featured on Tyra, and that’s the direction I see the line going more in. But I couldn’t find them anywhere, not online or in stores. I think they’re in the process of relaunching HOD. Anyway the junior line Dereon is doing really well. I’m sure they’ll be able to get HOD back on track soon enough or expand the Dereon line to include it.

I’m not surprised that ppl aren’t feeling her clothes. Her mother had Destiny’s Child looking like clowns on stage at times. I love my momma, but not enough to let her dress me for millions of adoring fans. B is still my girl though!!

believe it or not, I just saw some Derion at my local AJ Wright(TJMaxx). So either its overstock or B may be considering lowering the prices for the line. I mean I was suprised to see it at my local neighborhood shopping center. Wasn’t the Derion line supposed to be featured at stores like Macy’s or other upscale store as such. After all I am sure she has her marketing people checking the trends. She is not hurting for money but she is smart and average folks are going thru a recession.

I own a few items from HoD and while they certainly are different, as in not something I would wear on the street during the day, they are perfectly acceptable for clubbing. I like a lot of the clothes, especially the bikinis, but they simply aren’t practical for everyday wear. I’d be scared to even get in the water with some of those bikinis. I feel more comfortable getting in the pool in a black Gucci. Its simple whereas these clothes are not. I love them, they’re beautifully styled and certainly expressive, but they simply aren’t practical. If they can fix that and as others said lower the price a bit then I think they’d have a great clothing line.
