In an update issued Tuesday, a Walmart rep confirmed “Walmart will in fact be selling Whitney’s new album in all stores 8/31. We’re excited about Whitney’s new album!” via Twitter…. this is great news for all fans and “The Voice”…
Walmart may be in trouble if the latest rumor surrounding Whitney Houston’s anticipated album “I Look To You” is true.
According to several sources, Houston’s album is being pushed to the left and will only be available online !
That’s right, Walmart may be comfortable in missing the ‘comeback’ of Whitney Houston!
Sources say Houston’s album will not be offered in stores but, Disney star Miley Cyrus’ album will… (Cyrus’ latest album drops August 31 as well).
There has not been an official statement to confirm this rumor but, Walmart could definitely loose a few shoppers over this one… albeit it temporarily… they’re Walmart after all. When other retailers like Circuit City and Linens’ N’ Things bit the dust Walmart was landing record profits — you do the math..

about me? I work with Walmart and I just wanted to help them set the record straight.
What have I been telling you all for the past several weeks! She’ll undoubtly have a No.1 debut, but Whitney has NOT been receiving proper pre-promotion for her new CD! No magazine covers(Jet not included), no music video filmed for either single, no red carpet appearances at various functions around LA & NY and now this to add to the list! Both singles are NOT racing up the charts or receiving heavy-to-moderate airplay and her personal appearances still have yet to be scheduled or even announced for shows like GMA, Today Show, Regis, Entertainment tonight, TVONE and 106& Park! All of this should’ve been in place, especially for a star of her status! ..and Mariah calls herself concerned about “I look to You”‘s as competition, please…GMAFB!! Damn, C & D list celebrities receive better promo runs than this! Maybe, just maybe they(J records and her management team) are waiting until next week to have it ALL in place for a full week’s worth of back-to-back Whitney and more Whitney! First week’s sales are most important folks and we want Whitney to win bigtime and NOT just barely get by on the charts! Thank goodness Oprah is having her on her season premeire, but that’s in mid-September! By that time the media would have made their assessment of was this a comeback or not, so lets hope Whitney wins bigtime!$$$$ because she doesn’t deserve anymore mainstream negativity from here on out!
Walmart’s customer service team, told several of Whitney’s fans it wont be in stores… So unless I hear an official statement from Walmart via email. So this is something that really needs to be cleared up immediately.

Whitney shot her video today for MDB, yes, it should have been shot 2 wks ago but i trust that arista/sony know what they are doing. She is having a free concert in nyc at GMA and it will be showed on GMA on wed, sept 2- gma has a website page dedicated to her and they have been plugging her all month.
Last week, they had alicia keys on to talk about how whitney influenced her= beautiful segment
ILTY is now the #5 song, pass bad habits by maxwell at urban ac. MDB just got serviced to pop and rhythmic stations about 3 weeks ago, it needs a video to help push it.
Walmart apparently got alot of complains and blog stories and they said that there is a glitch on their online system but they will be carrying whitney album on 8/31.
last night, Access tv and entertainment tonight both did a short clip on whitney, mentioned that she was shooting her video and played a bit of mDB
One more thing, if walmart doesn’t want a full scale boycott launched against them, they will see that Whitney Houston cd is in their stores on Monday, 8/31- her fans from all over the world are pissed, even non fans are talking…
tania that was a good read, and very informed . i wished walmart would try to start something. but i believe that it will all work out good for whitney and for all of us.
walmart knows that they do not want to start something with one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. trust, they will get this taken care of because we are their business.

I personally will be buying my copy at my local best buy or target because at this point, i don’t trust them. They seem to be taking to long to fix it online but I think that they will come correct in the end.

This is unacceptable fro Walmart!!! The music industry needs competition and a fair one to revive good memories. We missed those times and the comeback of Miss Houston is certainly a plus for the music. Walmart is just messing up….
Ok this is probably the wierdest blog/article and comments i’ve ever read. I’m sure everyone who posted these comments are part of whitneys promotion team, for a few fans to know the specifics of exactly whats happening (oprah show on september, 2 week for shooting of the film etc..)why should walmart be worried? And why on earth would the fans be upset? Dont you think Houston already has a bad reputation for her insane drug problem in the past, present or future, i dont know and i dont care, i just think its funny how you can stand up for someone like that. Ever heard the saying, what you did in the past would come back and bite you in the future, this is a prime example. I would be happy if the album would not be availble in stores.

Okay….let’s take a deep breath and think about it. Walmart is walmart but WHITNEY IS WHITNEY and if they are as smart as we all know they are, then they will have Ms. Houston’s cd on the shelves and in the forefront. Whitney has always appealed to every age group and to people on all walks of life. She is beautiful, talented, strong and has the voice of an angel. Walmart has made some pretty good business moves in the past, and if they want an investment to bank on then putting I LOOK TO YOU in stores is what will get it. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MS HOUSTON AND YOU BETTER DO IT HONEY!!!!
Thanks Tania! If I recall this is NOT the first time this has happened on Wal-mart’s website! When Jadakiss was set to release his current CD, Walmart’s website had the graphics from the film
“The last Kiss” as the cover art for Jadakiss’ album! The artwork displayed a white male and a causian lovey-dovey couple and anybody could easily tell it was an error! The wrong graphics stayed on their website for months and when it finally got corrected they included a never-been-written before semi-autobiography of Jadakiss to accompany the correct artwork! Walmart’s online music department also had a new disclaimer directed at shoppers to not suggest to their webmaster about erroneous info posted on their site that I thought was too funny!
Even Africa awaits eargerly to the release of the new album of ever phenomenal Whitney. I have heard I Look To You and Million Dollar Bill and am like hell sure, the Diva is on.

the person who said that they would be happy the album wouldn’t be in stores can go and get a life. whitney houston is the voice and will live on forever. she has achieved so much in her career, no one can touch that.
