Clive Davis: Whitney Houston Will Reach Millions
When it comes to Whitney Houston’s massive comeback, Clive Davis seems to have everything figured out, especially when it boils down to keeping Whitney at an Aretha and Ella Fitzgerald like level.
Speaking of Houston’s forthcoming appearances on ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘Oprah’, Clive tells Daily Variety:
“I’m sure that she will have more live engagements, but I’m more interested in her doing these shows. When she does television engagements, you’re talking about reaching millions of people, not 15,000. She’s really more akin to Streisand than she is a rock artist. You’re not going to get Whitney Houston doing one-nighters.”
“She’s in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Streisand — there are just a handful who are the voices of all time. Plus, she looks great.”
Clive ain’t never live. Whitney is not just your everyday, average r*b/pop singer. There is only one Whitney and there won’t be another and Clive knows that. She said herself, she is a balladeer..
she has set the mark and really, she is only competing with herself. I’m sure that she will do a few more shows but they will be meaningful and they will be events.
Clive is a master, he knows what he is doing and damn straight, she looks great!

Clive nailed it on the HEAD. Whitney is in a class of great artist. She is a living legend and no wicked critics and bad press can take that away from her. The rest of Whitney’s life will be full of joy and hapiness and that is what she will give to the millions of fans that love her and recognize her as a beautiful, sassy, but classy lady who can sing like no other that I have ever heard. With all what has been said, I hope they are working on the problem with her album NOT being available inside Walmart stores! It’s Friday and they still have NOT corrected the problem on their website and the album is supposed to be in the stores Monday! Best of luck to Whitney!
I completely agree with the majority of the reviews. Theres alot of hating going on about WHITNEY HOUSTON, but remember this a truly gifted singer who can touch hearts regardless of vocal prawless.
