Just in case you thought his Twitter rant about stores not stocking his album “Graffiti” were over exaggerated, Chris Brown made a special trip out to Walmart just for those who doubted his claims.
Tweeting after his visit to a Wallingford, CT store , Brown wrote “JUST WAS AT WALMART IN wallingford CT,844 north colony.. the(y) didnt even have my album in the back… not on shelves, saw for myself.”
“we talked to the managers and the(y) didnt even know anything. wow!!! but they had alicia keys album ready for release for this tuesday comin. the manager told me that when there are new releases its mandatory to put em on the shelves.. BUT NO SIGN OF #GRAFFITI. BS no disprespect to alicia at all.. just givin an example to whos album is loaded and ready to go next week.
What do you think…. are stores wrong for sticking “Graffiti” in a corner somewhere ?

Let the consumers choose if they want to buy his album, rather than allowing store managers to make a personal decision to not stock the album, if they do have it in inventory.

Go to bestbuy.com, put in YOUR Zip code, look up music – CD’s and you’ll see Alicia Keys, Robin Thick and a few other ‘not-so-well-knowns,’ that said, I went into my local Best Buy and….wouldn’t you know it? Alicia Keys and Robin Thick was SOLD OUT!!!
Graffiti was ‘fully-stocked’, but ‘Graffiti-Deluxe’ was NOT THERE!! I had to ask ‘em for it, they ONLY had 1, I made ‘em go in the warehouse, out back, and I, personally – walked it over – and PUT IT in it’s proper section!!
I just checked itunes, Alicia Keys NOR Robin Thick are EVEN on itunes top 10 U.S. OR the itunes top 10 Soul/R&B U.S. Chart!!
I was just as skeptical as everyone else, but dude has a point!!!!
But that 100k-projected-number, is ONLY from retail store CD sales, NOT from Itunes/Amazon mp3 digital ALBUM downloads!!!
^^It’ll be interesting to see just how much digital ALBUM downloads contribute to the weeks numbers, he’s NOT ONLY on itunes R&B U.S. ALBUMS @#1, but he’s also on itunes top 10 Albums @#10!
I’m no ‘industry-insider,’ but I should image a CD sale is a “CD sale,” no?
For lack of a better word what those stores/mgrs are doing is “hatin”. It cost them nothing to put the album on the shelf, if ppl buy it they make money and if not the artist is only one that loses, but it’s not right to impose their bias, whatever it may be, on the consumer.
Yes they are wrong like bebe said his music is still great infact better than most artist now got his album great so they don’t need 2 do that bs.
